File extensions in folder view

I'm sure I saw something about this earlier, but for the life of me I can't find it now.

Is there a way to hide the file extensions in folder view, just as if viewing the title lists? If not, I'd like to ask for this as a feature...

It used to be like that but ppl were asking for file names in the folder view. I take the folder view as a helper category for me and as it stands it will not get too many new features. Just a simple filesystem-like view.

Re: File extensions in folder view

Ok, thanks. But is there a way to turn it on and off still, even if it's by tweaking an xml file somewhere? What about making it an option?

To be honest, folder view is the only one I'm really interested in (for video). The metadata is nice, of course, but all titles, related or not, get mixed into the same alphabetical lists. In other words, it doesn't allow me to put things in logical groupings... such as a complete DVD. Also, my TV client won't display any of the metadata (except the thumbnails). So, I organize all my stuff nicely and neatly into folders, with nice title-filenames... if I could just get rid of ".mov" and ".ts". ;)

Re: File extensions in folder view

I would also appreciate the feature of selecting to not show file extensions in folder view. Ps3MediaServer had this feature and it would be very nice if this option was added.

EDIT: Nvm, i just tried using the category feature of Movies and Series, and all i can say is WOW. Program does it flawlessly. Truly amazing. Its also much faster at browsing media files from the client.

Re: File extensions in folder view

Except that all videos in that same folder get the same title... You can't tell one from the other. :(
