Gonna try the wrapper in the meantime, but I'm not completely sure I got it right.... The wrapper should work without adding transcoding to the profile (provided that the renderer supports h264, right?

OK folks.

I have released a new version of the plugin. This is essentially the 1.1.8 beta, bumped to 1.1.9 and with a new, shorter file name.
I have uploaded a zip archive with ffmpeg wrappers for Windows as well as Linux to take care of the live stream remuxing command bug.
If you are on version 1.1.7 and can't be bothered to use a wrapper, either force transcoding or just don't add live stream resources until Serviio 1.2 is released.

instead.

B: in linux, a carriage return at eol is an extra character and will in your script be considered a part of the interpreter name. Won't always work.

Tried the wrapper (windows). Only difference was that it took a bit longer before my player/renderer shutdown to standby ....
To make it even worse, it seems that after trying to play live content, my server (win7) got irresponsive and I had to reboot it (which is very rarely needed). Happended first time after trying without the wrapper, and second time with the wrapper.

I have now removed the wrapper and I'll stay with my present configuration, happily playing on-demand content. Gonna give live content another try when Serviio reaches 1.2.

The news category is pretty much clogged with upcoming live transmissions. Any option available to only have it populated with archived programs?

OK, sorry it didn't work out. Are you sure it is remuxing and not transcoding?

And did you enable debug log and check that the plugin is actually called?

Not at the moment.

But you could try manually editing the plugin source.
if you are on version 1.1.9, alter the expression (at line 159)

  Code:

def blnIncludeServiioLive = true

Replace "true" with "false" .

This should unclutter your news category, but will also leave any feed targeted at live shows empty.

For the next version I may introduce a way to do this per feed, the same way as with clips and episodes.

I think there may be a bug ni Serviio's caching of plugins, so you may need to restart your Serviio service after making the change in order to apply it properly.

Strange is that it stops after a time ending with 9 (so far after 9, 19, 49 seconds, and 1 min 39 sec)

So it could be related to ffmpg. I can post a log reflecting this, but I've forgotten the log settings so it shows only the relevant stuff (only logging online sources). If someone can guide me that would be terrific.

GamePat: it's better if you post a full debug log than none at all. Do you get the problem with ANY SvtPlay stream or just live shows?

So far I've tried only 1 stream (42 min long) and 1 short stream (5 min, which didn't stop) and none of the live shows.

I'll post a log later today evening, when I get a chance to experiment more with svtplay.

Here is my log. I only took from the moment the SVT Play folders/categories where beginning to load until I ended playing 2 clips in my test.

It took me a good hour from that Serviio loaded all my online feeds/channels until I ended my test, so I don't think I'll do it again. I have a lot of online sources before I add SVT Play (which is the last thing to load and every category loads over 5 min, due to 10 pages for each category in my settings, Nyheter has 15 pages) All SVT Play categories loads fine.

I have 6 categories of SVT clips:
1.Dokumentär 2. Film och Drama 3 Kultur och Nöje 4. Nyheter 5. Samhälle och fakta 6. Sport
(Renamed to the same in Serviio, just added SVT before each category name with space after SVT)

I played:

Fråga Doktorn - Del 6 av 19:
1. Ended after 49 seconds
2. Unsupported format (not loading for 30 sec) - FIRST OCCURRENCE
3. Same as 2 immediately
(Last time I played , 2 days ago, it stopped after 9 sec, 19 sec , 49 sec and 1 min 39 sec)

Plus - Del 1 av 10:
1. Ended after 3 min 19 sec
Didn't bother to play it more times. By now roughly 1 hour had passed.

The log is big (14.5 MB) but I compressed it. So good luck to everyone who wants to look through my log to see anything that might contribute to the problem why clips from SVTPlay stops at random times, but always at times ending with a 9. Reminder: I won't do the test again, since it took a good hour to complete.

Here's a DEBUG log of trying to watch a Live stream from http://svtplay.se/kanaler on a Sony BDP-S370 bluray player, probably a 2010 model, it does have the latest FW. Profile is set to be the x70 (2010)
Serviio is 1.2RC, the profiles.xml is the one supplied by Patters for 1.2.
The plugin SVTPlay.groovy is v 1.1.9
fmpeg is 1.1.2 compiled to work with the 1.2RC as prescribed by Zip.
Java is jre1.7.0_15 for 64 bit Solaris.

Symptoms are: I select the show (in this case the all-day-time SVT Forum Live Stream on SVT2).
Player puts up the Title after about 10 sec.
Then it goes dark. After a little more time it throws up the title again and the skeleton around the audio stream properties.

Finally you can see serviio killing off a process because nothing happens ( there's a 20 sec activitiy watchdog??).

The log ends with some other stuff, rescanning the online resources. It starts at first light, i e when the BluRay player calls for attention.
The Bluray player has the IP addr 192.168.1.26

The attached log should cover everything from the player starts up until it has stopped and turned off of its own volition.
And then some.

P.S. Watching the same show (and all the other live streams from SVT) works perfectly on my WD TV Live HD.

Serviio 1.2 will be bundled with FFmepg 1.1.1, so to keep it on a level playing field shouldn't you use that?
Does this stream work using Serviio 1.1? I don't think the new 2010 BDP profile changes the handling of live streams.

So. A bunch of decode_slice_header_errors until the decoder "locks" on the live stream. Then it produces a nice ts-file which can NOT be played in WMP, but which plays nicely with VLC 2.0.4 for Windows.

I suggest you take this issue up in the transcoding forum instead. Perhaps zip needs to rethink the transcoding and delivery of HLS streams, which tends to come in 10 second chunks (with some garbage in the first chunk of up to 10 seconds).

Serviio 1.2 will be bundled with FFmepg 1.1.1, so to keep it on a level playing field shouldn't you use that?
Does this stream work using Serviio 1.1? I don't think the new 2010 BDP profile changes the handling of live streams.

I hope Zip will rethink that and bundle 1.1.2 instead. That version is spreading fast in the *n*x world.
