Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Serviio won't transcode just because the bit rate is higher. Try editing the profile to add mp3 to the list of matches, as well as the aBirtate flag.

Even so, it shouldn't come up with an unknown error. Can you try starting a track and then pausing to see that it does load the whole track.

After adding the match to the list (and keeping the aBitrate flag on for the set), it now appears to be transcoding MP3s. Odd that it isn't like that by default, but whatever works.

The bitrate I was last attempting was 48kbps, which while poor quality seems to stream fine. It only had one small hiccup in the playback test I just tried. Files are being transcoded at about 1/3 to 1/4 their original size, which sounds about right. I'll play with it until I get a good blend of quality and size.

I appreciate the help Will.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Hi Will

With 2.03 the light theme problem is fixed. Thanks.

Hopefully you will fix fonts in future version.

One new problem. With online sources, some of the folder icons are long and thin.eg 200x 20. Serviigo stretches the 20 to fill the height and so it cuts off the sides of the icon when the 200 is stretched with the original aspect ratio. It should just fit the width and leave the height with the original aspect ration. You can see this if you use Coolsport or SkysportPlus plugins. Strangely it seems that snapshot icons are handled corrrectly with the width fit but these all seem to have their height trimmed, so it seems the problem happens when the height is insufficient to be trimmed when the width is fitted, so you keep stretching until the height fits but then the width is too wide.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Here is the beta for the next release (https://bitbucket.org/willlunniss/servi ... -Beta1.apk), the changes are below. I want to get this ready and on Google Play by the time Serviio 1.2 comes out, so please try to find some time to test it ASAP. In particular, please test searching for servers, both with Serviio 1.1 and if you are a betatester with Serviio 1.2 with the External address field filled in. Also any comments on the other points would be useful.

  Code:
==== 2.1 Beta 1 ====
*Removed support for Serviio 1.0/1.0.1, minimum version is now 1.1
*Added support for Serviio 1.2 (currently in beta testing)
*Improved setup experience by automatically finding servers and setting then up for Wi-Fi access
*Improved help over setting up remote access
*Improved cache management for Serviio 1.2+ servers
*Improved error messages and made it clearer that a Serviio Pro licence is required to use the app
*Improved display of files/folders with long names
*Minor bug fixes and improvements
*Updated libraries
*Updated translations

I didn't do anything in 2.0.3 to fix that, still haven't reproduced it, so not sure....

If by fonts you mean layouts for long titles they should be better in the beta version above, please confirm.

Thumbnails have been a massive pain for me. Because they are too low-res, none of the built in scalling and sizing work properly as they are designed for scalling odd shaped images down to fit, not up. Hopefully most of the problems will go away once Serviio supports higher resolution ones. I won't be doing anything about it in this version, but I'll look into it. Although that is such an exteme resolution, why don't you just pad it out and make it a 200x200 or 200x112.5?

The icons are provided by the web-site providing the streams so I cannot pad them. FYI, Zip handles them fine in Serviio with mediabrowser and they come thru with Bubblepnp correctly.

Yes I made some optimisations as I didn't expect such extreme aspect ratios.

Hi.

When I watch any mkv on "Original" quality, video is streamed with all audios and subtitles it has.

When it's compressed to "Medium" or "Low" quality, there is no subs and only one audio is there.

Also, no video forward is possible on these 2 settings.

Is it normal? I've tried with Dice player and MX video.

Yes that is normal.

Subtitles should be available under all qualities with Serviio 1.2 (due out fairly soon). I'm working on writing a custom video player to enable fast fordward for Medium/low qualities, but I don't have an eta at the moment, it may have to wait until Serviio can transcode to HLS so that it will support a wide range of devices.

For the different audio tracks, I think there are plans to let you pick a different one, currently Serviio will just use the first one when transcoding content.

@will did you see my message in the beta forum? Currently I disabled hardsubs for the app profiles. If you need it, let me know in the beta forum.

Yes I saw it. Shouldn't need them as for MX Player I send the url to the subtitles along with the video. I haven't however had a chance to test it with the new extraction methods yet.

I'll try and look at it this week.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Beta Results.

1. Online content = Failed to load content

2. I was wrong that light theme problem was fixed.
Here is the bug spec.
a- when light theme is chosen, the "Browse" menu that you get when you touch the upper left serviigo icon remains white letters on a black background. it should have changed to black on white.
b- when you slide it up or down it turns the background white but the black letters do not appear.
c- if you touch the icon again the white on black "browse" menu reappears, positioned as per the slide in b-

3. I don't see any difference in fonts. The layout and font sizes seem the same as that which I previously suggested be changed. One additional point is that the font on the top line to the right of the serviiogo icon is larger on the portrait screen than on the landscape which makes no sense to me because there is less room on the portrait screen.

1. Found and hopefully fixed that (one or more of your online sources was missing data that I always expected and it therefore failed the validation and sent me a report).

2. I still haven't been able to reproduce it, can I have a screenshot.

3. OK, re-read your previous comment. I had increased the number of lines for folders to 4 lines, and made some adjustments elsewhere, mainly for audio IIRC, but haven't reduced the size anywhere as I'm going to look at more design focused changes for the next release.

The font size in the action bar is controlled by the platform, it is smaller in landscape for phones to fit the two lines in as the bar itself is more compact, I won't be changing this.

EDIT: updated download link with a version that fixes 1.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

OK, just did some research and there is a bug in Android's code, if you ask the text view to display "..." when the text goes over the num line limit it is limited to 2 lines regardless of what you set it to. There are some simple enough workarounds that shouldn't impact performance so I'll try those later this week.

Sidebar problem, OK thanks that helps as it means it is in the list of options, rather than the whole side fragment, still no idea what is happening but that should help track it down (hopefully), very odd.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

I'm using ServiiGo 2.0.3 on the latest Serviio running on Windows 7. When I listen to music using ServiiGo both on my internal network and from outside by means of port forwarding, the played songs do not advance through the playlist. When it gets to the end of a song, it keeps repeating it instead of advancing to the next song on the playlist. In order to hear the next song, I have to hit the next track button in the music player. I've done a lot of Googling as well as searching the forum and have not found anyone else with a similar issue.

Thanks,
Jason

That's very strange, just to confirm that is with Serviio 1.1?

What are the file types, mp3s or something else?

I believe it's Serviio 1.1. I'm at work now, so can't check for sure. I'm still in the pro trial, and I just downloaded and installed in the last week. Files are in my itunes library, so m4a.

Thanks,

Ok, could you email me an example file to test (email address from Google play) and I'll try to see what is going on as that shouldn't be happening.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

I've uploaded 2.1 to Google Play. Thank you for those who helped by testing, even simply using it and generating bug reports is very helpful. There are still a few issues that I haven't had a chance to address, i'll try to do that in a follow up minor release.

This release includes some fairly major internal changes such as me manually parsing json as well as a change to how I cache data in memory, so there may still be some issues that didn't show them selves, I'll try to fix any as soon as they appear.

  Code:
==== 2.1 ====
*Removed support for Serviio 1.0/1.0.1, minimum version is now 1.1
*Added support for Serviio 1.2
*Improved setup experience by automatically finding servers and setting then up for Wi-Fi access
*Improved help over setting up remote access
*Improved cache management for Serviio 1.2+ servers
*Improved error messages and made it clearer that a Serviio Pro licence is required to use the app
*Improved display of files/folders with long names
*Fixed detection of authentication errors in the music player on JB+
*Minor bug fixes and improvements
*Updated libraries
*Updated translations
