Another issue is USB connected to a NAS drive

Hi

Another issue is when you boot a NAS box the usb drives attached to it that were indexed
can be rearranged.. e.g. N2200

create uncs like //n2200/usbhhd/usb1/1
and ..n2200/.usbhdd/usb#/1 where # can be 1 to 6

where its usb / partition

sometimes what was usb1 is now usb 2

what would be nice is some how the media server detects this
instead of having to rescan usb1 and usb2 again to switch them

I thought perhaps could add a simple text file in root the media server reads
and checks the contents for a settings like
usb1

so then when it checks it looks for the file and then knows usb2 is path
1 that was entered

Usually you can change some file like /etc/fstab and use the hardware id to force a static mount. It's easier to solve this on your hardware then in Serviio. You could even write some kind of boot script which would detect which drive is which, and create links to the correct ones.

You are requesting a feature here that hardly anyone experienes, and is absolutely out-of-scope for a mediaserver imo. Of course, it's up to zip, but I think you'll have to start looking to fix this on your NAS.

Re: Another issue is USB connected to a NAS drive

i think theres plenty using thecus nas with usb drives attached so its affect them.
whenever they reboot.. if the support didnt fix the problem I dont think I have
a chance

not so easy hacking a n2200 even getting a rootcmd to work is limited
or ssh via modules

just seems silly having to scan all the drives again when all it needs to do is
first update the path to the correct usb location before rescanning
