Skifta extended support
I am have the Sony HX800 TV that is mildly put having poor media support but Serviio really works well with it (transcoding). What I would like to improve is how I find the media I want to play. And for that I am thinking Skifta (Android DLNA tool). It supports browsing the Serviio files and telling the HX800 to play a browsed file. All well and good. But the issue is that the file Skifta asks the TV to play is using unknown (to the TV) media type and hence the file isn't played (Skifta reports unsupported file type on the TV).
I am don't know how this DLNA stuff works regarding which device is in charge, but is it possible to make Serviio serve the transcoded file to the TV instead of the file Skifta wants the TV to play? Basically overriding the filetype to kick transcoding into gear.
I have asked the Skifta developers to add this kind of support but they feel it is too far away from what their tool should do. Serviio on the other hand is already ready for transcoding so I hoped that it could add in some flexibility here.
