Library scan/building

Hi

I noticed I cant right click on a library link like a UNC to nas drive and tell it to rescan
or build that link onlu?

can suggest a right click feature to scan on drive or path would be handy

when I click force rebuild or leave auto on.. it seems to start from the
first one in list again.. when each drive is 2tb it seems to take a day to scan each one.

so a 4tb Nas box with 4/6 ports with additional usb drives.. it can be a slow process
indeed

---
Also I notice it splits folders with long names to separate entries
i dont have this issue with twonkymedia 6

e.g.. a long ntfs folder name/filename1.avi
a long ntfs folder name/filename2.avi

and so on...

instead of both files in same folder name
might be a bug not sure.. it lists the files in each folder ok

I guess I could rename the longfolders to smaller ones

Re: Library scan/building

Also I didnt see a way to export or backup the database thats built.

would be handy if takes a week to scan all NAS drive to have it backed up
so less scanning again if a upgrade or pc crash knocks it out
as often files dont change much

also handy if want to also copy it to another laptop running the media server
so dont have to get that to build the same nas drive

why would we need 2 windows machines.. well.. one for backup server
and when one is down for repairs etc

Re: Library scan/building

to back up, you can just copy the library folder

Re: Library scan/building

i tried that.. I copied it to a vista machine and it didnt list the paths

in fact it screwed up.. I had to delete the folder and reinstall to fix.

I suspect maybe db was locked or doing scan when copied

so a function to export would ensure its not locked when copied?
