WD LIVE Plus pause/play/rew/ff

i'm having some issues playing recordings made by windows media center. for some reason, when i try to play recordings back via serviio if i attempt to fast forward/rewind...etc. if i have something playing, then press fast forward to skip past a commercial for example, the playback shows a black screen for several minutes sometimes. if i leave the wd live in play mode long enough, video playback does eventually pop back in. can anyone advise what might be wrong? to i need to adjust the WD live profile maybe?
