Server startup with no connection

Hello,
it happens that if media server service starts before I turn the router on, I have to restart manually the service to make my tv to see serviio.

Is it possible to implement a periodic connection-retry in similar situations?

thanks

That looks like a weird way to do things ;-) Serviio requires an IP address to run, not sure what happens if the router hasn't assigned any. Doubt I'll be implementing anything to make it work this way.

Re: Server startup with no connection

The context is not so weird imho and I think many users may have this problem.
I'll explain more in detail (and I don't want to be critic about serviio since I think the product is very good).

Since I don't use very often internet at home, when my pc is turned off, also router is turned off.
When I need to use pc, I turn on both.

It's not obvious which one will boot-up fist. If pc is faster, i'll have a serviio service not working. Of course restarting the service (after ip addr was assigned) solves the problem, but if I use pc like a NAS (no keyb, no mouse, unconfortable position, etc) that makes restarting the service manually hard.

Keeping router always on and/or delaying pc start would solve the problem, but this is not always the case.

I think that a good portion of people that use this kind of software don't have a lot of knowledge about DLNA/services/ip etc and needs a short time to result.

thanks.

Re: Server startup with no connection

I'm seeing the same symptom on my system (Windows 7 64bit). Service starts up normally and all appears well, however it is not visible on the network until I shut down serviio and restart the service. In my case the router does stay on - however the application might be starting up prior to the machine being allocated an IP. Either way, I'd love to make this work right off the dot. I'll experiment with a delayed startup service rather than automatic and see if that makes any difference.
