Ah right. I thought so. So I'm forcing it to 256 kb/s and that seems to be best for Pure radios.

I'm continuing the testing, looking good so far. This certainly works with the Siesta Flow as well as the Evoke Flow. I'm just getting it tested on the Avanti Flow at the moment.

Re: Pure EVOKE Flow - Transcoding profile

You are all being wonderfully helpful, it's a shame that more of the 235 people who've read my thread on the Pure forums haven't posted their findings for us yet.

Still, I can confirm that it's working on the Avanti now, as well as on the Evoke and the Siesta. It's looking good for full range compatibility but I'd like a few more models tested before I am sure. If I don't get a bit more active response from the community soon I'll contact Jason Voice and see what he can do re. testing. I hate to lean on him though, for what should be an easy thing for the community to test. Open Source spirit and all that...

If I'm not getting any complaints then I'm hoping that, at least, is a good sign.

ZIP has marked this as resolved on bitbucket so it will be included in 0.6 when it is released :)

Re: Pure EVOKE Flow - Transcoding profile

Tested on a Sensia Flow and works in general, including photos.

The only problem I have is some music stored as lossless wma, these won't transcode. I've tried adding asf as the source container as mentioned in another thread but with no luck.

Any suggestions?

Could you post "ffmpeg -i" result of the file?

from what i understand lossless wma codecs are not supported yet by serviio, as all suopported format were added to this profile when i made it ;)

Dear all who have helped with this. Thank you for all your help yet again. Sorry I've been out of the picture for a few months, but I've been really busy. Such is life in an economic nightmare. Anyway...

I have posted the details of Serviio 0.6 on the Pure forums. I have contacted the Pure technical head bigwig and informed him of the complete setup in Serviio 0.6 and asked him to promote Serviio as the transcoding solution for Pure radios as he wanted to do when I last discussed the matter with him.

Well done all. You have helped me to finally make transcoding easy for all Pure radios.

Great to hear. I didn't add any script to transcode photos as I don't have a Sensia to test on. Still, it should show photos the Sensia can show natively and should transcode audio files as far as is possible with Serviio.

I didn't add transcoding for M4A & AAC files as Pure radios can play many of these. Those that it can't play could only be transcoded if all are transcoded and I don't want to transcode where not necessary as quality is inevitably reduced a bit.

WMA files should play natively on Pure radios, but not lossless ones. Sorry, I suggest you convert them to FLAC lossless format which Serviio will transcode.

Re: Pure EVOKE Flow - Transcoding profile

Nice one Cerb. Now Pure devices have a fixed profile ID number in Serviio releases we can modify as we go without messing up users' setups.

If anyone can try photos on their Sensia it may be that this area can be improved as well. I cannot test this as other Pure radios don't show photos (including my Evoke Flow) so it's up to you guys to guide me. Specifically:

Does Serviio auto-rotate your image based on EXIF info? Does the Sensia do this natively? If not, would you like Serviio to auto-rotate photos?

What happens if you try to use a photo over 4096x4096 in resolution? I think Serviio defaults to limiting photos to 4096x4096. If not, it might be made to. Can the Sensia show photos over 4096x4096 natively? I can find no specifications on the Sensia that would inform me.

I don't believe the Sensia will show videos. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure what Serviio does to photos by default as I have given it no instructions on photo handling. As I say, I cannot test this. Do any of you experts know how Serviio will handle photos by default?

Does Serviio auto-rotate your image based on EXIF info?

YES

As default serviio only rotates the file, and nothing else if we need to setup picture for the device we need sink info for that specific device then we can setup the correct system for it.

only problem with users just editing the profile is that its easy to break it and when they upgarde if i havent had the information the new edits wont have been added to teh profile and will be lost. ;)

By 'we can modify as we go' I mean here, on the forum, for inclusion in the next release. The bigger problem was adding a profile and finding the profile number had to change on each release. It was confusing for the average user. That problem has now gone away with Serviio 0.6.

So Serviio rotates by default, but does not limit the size to the DLNA standard of 4096x4096 by default? I imagined it would. I have asked for the Sensia photo spec. on the Pure forums as well. If I can find out whether the Sensia rotates natively and what the resolution requirements are we can get to tweaking for the next release of Serviio. I expect that it will require 4096x4096 limiting, but I am not sure yet...

Also, I am guessing that neither Serviio will transcode non-JPEG images nor will the Sensia show non-JPEGs natively. Please correct me if I am wrong and so I can look in to that too if possible.

That I can't do. It would also be a bit confusing on the Pure forums for the average Pure owner so no point in my posting a request there.

Can any Sensia owners here provide the sink info for Cerb as I did for the Evoke Flow?
