Video resume point

Hi. First of all, I'm not sure if the subject name is correct for this feature, since I actually don't know the name for it. And second, I'm not sure if this is possible through Serviio or if this is something that's related to the player itself. Anyhow... to the "subject"!

I would like to have some sort of feature that save your progress in a movie. For example, if you have watched a movie for 50 minutes and then stops it to watch the continue another time, then you have to fast forward to the location where you stopped it last time. What I want is maybe a file that saves to your computer, that saves the time that you stopped the movie, so the next time you're going to watch it, you will get a question if you want to start from that time, or if you want to start from the beginning.

I hope you understand what I mean :) But as I said in the beginning, maybe this isn't something that can be done with Serviio?

This is how I get around this on my samsung D5300. I use the tools menu and go to where I think in time I was in the movie.

This does not work on All C series devices and sadly the C5500 is one that it will not work on.

I will try this tomorrow. Actually I had read about this earlier, that it should allow resume playback, but I have never known how to do it and then I forgot about it. BluRay & TV is busy right now and I'm going to bed soon, so I will try this as soon as I come home from work tomorrow!

Ok. I have now tested this and it doesn't work. Though, I have only tested on .mkv files and I'm going to try it on a .avi soon! Or did I do anything wrong maybe?

yer your trying to FORCE the function to work and it wont just view the file normaly and it WILL work, i have found though that it can sometime not work it library is being refreshed at same time.

normally, the TV will show a message offering Continuous play on the blue button. Make sure you're using the (unmodified) C/D profile.

I do not know have never installed it. I will try and install it this weekend and test it.

its looking more and more to me as if we need to split teh C and D samsu8ng profiles as i suspect to get resume working on them it require a different device description line to teh one for C series.

I installed Allshare and the resume does not seem to be working with it either. I will try it with a different video setup and see if it changes.

maybe it only works with certain files (probably those that support ffwd)

I tied it with an AVI and a MP4 bout would ff but no resume. a M4V would not even play.
