Case-insensitivity

Would be nice if the library wasn't case-sensitive.

For example, in my audio library under ALBUM ARTIST I have a selection for "Taken By Trees" and another selection for "Taken by Trees" (the "b" in By is lowercase).

Re: Case-insensitivity

Zip, is it necessary to open a new ticket for this feature?

Re: Case-insensitivity

I'm not sure if I'll be doing this. For example, which case should be used in the end?

Re: Case-insensitivity

For me, it wouldn't matter which case to use. As long as everything shows up under the same "folder" I'm alright with that. Maybe just use whatever Serviio finds first.

Re: Case-insensitivity

I would love to see this done and as above it wouldn't matter which case was chosen. Maybe this is something that could be controlled by an option in the console.

Re: Case-insensitivity

I think there are other, relevant, tools that can sort out your library. If you have incorrect metadata Serviio will not try to fix it for you ;-)

Re: Case-insensitivity

I agree that in an ideal world the metadata across a library would be consistent and a media server application should not need to worry about this sort of thing. Unfortunately I feel we don't live in this ideal world and often the tools you refer to provide us with the inconsistent metadata often because they use online sources and such which themselves have inconsistent information. This then becomes a spot where a media server can add additional value by normalizing inconsistency in the metadata and providing an end user with what they would expect.

I'm not asking that Serviio maintain my meta-data... just be a little more forgivable

Re: Case-insensitivity

What I've noticed is that if the case of a letter is changed (say "i" to "I") a new entry is added to the library during the Library Refresh (which is desired for me). However, if the only thing that changes is the case then the update task will not remove the old item from the library. It would be nice if the Library Refresh and Update tasks followed the same rules regarding case. Thanks, and I LOVE Serviio!
