Play single file only & Library Refresh on folder level

Hi,

I've been very happy with serviio and in the last two days noticed that there would be two things I'd change (if I could that is):

1. It would be nice to have the option to play a single file only instead of getting the next file from the folder once a file is finished playing as a selectable option (i.e. i only want my kid to watch one episode of her fav series and not the entire season)

2. I have a about 6 TB of shared stuff (videos, musik, pics). If I have automatic updates set to 10 minutes serviio is forever refreshing and using around 40% of my dual core PC's CPU. But not all folders require the same refresh rate. Thus I'd suggest individual refresh levels per folder (i.e. new videos every 10 minutes, archive musik every 2 days or so, archived series every day or whatever and so on). Alternative a sheduled library refresh at longer intervals might also be a good a idea. Personally I'd prefer it if I could set the monitoring on a per folder level. Maybe others agree?

Determind by the renderer anmd not serviio...

i have no idea why people are so obsessed by CPU usage at the moment, it baffles me as a network engineer, and all i have to say is this " just cause you think its doing nothing i might be doing something in the background like checking for updates " it is also an idle process so if your using your pc at the time serviio wont take as much of your cpu/memory as when your not using it, this allows serviio to give you the best performance of keeping your library upto date and still giving you a usable system.

But not all folders require the same refresh rate. This has already been decussed and ZIP decided he would not add this but he is adding a feature to change the order you have folders set in yopur library so that more changing folders are at the top so are refresh before less used folders.

Re: Play single file only & Library Refresh on folder level

1. too bad then would have been neat

2. I am not obsessed about CPU usage - scanning for changes over 5 TB of data just doesnt make a lot of sense to beginn with. I am now doing it by just having auto refresh for the often changed folders (which is already placed in order of desired refresh priority as well) and i will just run a manual forced library refresh every once in a while but I am pretty sure that automating this would be a feature that would increase overall user experience. Why would I want to waste a scan on folders I know dont contain new information? Of course I have no idea how complicated on a programming level this would be to implement but to me this seems like a very sensible thing to have doesnt it?

Re: Play single file only & Library Refresh on folder level

You can turn on/off scanning for new / updated files per folder ATM, you cannot change the scanning frequency per folder - and I doubt you will be in a forseeable future.
So you can keep your movies refreshed and refresh audio only on demand (by selecting the checkbox for the folder). More fine grained control on what to refresh can be achived by sharing folders on a lower level, e.g. not sharing c:/music but c:/music/favourite (turn scanning on) and c:/music/rest ()turn scanning off) - although it's not ideal.
