GPU Accelerated Transcoding

Hi,
i have a HP ProLiant MicroServer N40L with Windows 8 installed. This system should serve my TV as a UPNP Server.
I have an additional, spare (currently NOT installed) AMD 6450 HD graphics card.

Will Serviio use less CPU time and the GPU instead, when i install the 6450HD and use the serviio transcoding?
Or in general: Do i need the transcoding for my TV: Philips 42PFL4007K/12.

Sorry i am not an expert in streaming and didn't find any threads regarding "6450", "gpu" or similar...

Regards
bollerfant

all of serviio's transcoding is done by ffmpeg, which I don't think currently has gpu accelerated encoding.

As far as I know ffmepg doesn't support HW Accel for transcoding, if you were watching the files live on the server than yes you would have improvements ... atleast this is how I have seen it preform.

I know this is old post ,but my tesla gpu's get a little hotter when the machine is transcoding
I set the serviio exe to run through them hard to say if this is really working
have not checked ffmpeg exe to run on the gpu's I would know more if I can get a quadro card
to support cuda pipe
