Selective Transcoding

Is there a way I can set the transcoding to only work with certain file types, so I can ignore the files that play OK and only transcode those that don't, rather than transcode everything?
Can I set transcoding to save to a file, so I can watch the transcoded movie once completed, rather than on the fly?

if the correct profile is selected for each renderer only the required files are transcoded. for online content, I believe everything is transcoded, but that can be changed in the profile.

Yeah thanks, more gobbledegook!
A loaded question, but what exactly am I supposed to do with that?
I really don't want to take an advanced Java(?) course over many weeks just to be able to decipher the link.
I understand Serviio is free, but that should not mean there is no support for it! Perhaps, one day, someone will write some meaningful, helpful instructions the layman can understand and use. I know there are some instructions for transcoding, but how exactly are they configured.
You might like to consider that if Microsoft just gave out links and no help for DOS from the start, then we would not even be in a position to have this communication.

Sorry, but it is this kind of position that discourages me, to help free some users.
Good luck.

Perhaps if you spent an equivalent amount of time reading the documentation it will all become clear. Bet you don't even know where it is.
Hint: Click the Big SERVIIO log at the top of this page.

Transcoding only happens for files that cannot be played natively, well to our best knowledge. If you need to further update the profile, and have the knowledge and time, that's what the link is for. Otherwise you should be able to just select the right profile and all will be done for you automagically.
