Serviio

I'm trying to send a http live stream to my C series Samsung TV.
Actually I'm able to play the stream, but 5.1 ac3 audio track is downmixed to 2.0 ac3 and I'd like to keep the original audio track.

I did this with Wild Media Server, trascoding the stream on a temp file, so my TV can handle the original tracks, but I'd prefer to do it with Serviio.

The original stream is a udp stream, that I re-stream with vlc in http.

Inspecting it with ffmpeg.exe -i "http://192.168.0.2:2345" I have this result:



I think I can play the stream from my Popcorn Hour A110 without transcoding, because in log file I found these lines:



I don't know if my TV can handle this native format, but I think the stream is transcoded because the audio track on the TV is 2.0 and I found these lines in the log file:



From what I understand from the last line, the stream is transcoded with ffmpeg, the video track is copied (-vcodec copy) and the audio track is transcoded and downmixed to 2.0 192kbs (-acodec ac3 -ab 192k -ac 2).
I think it would be enough to modify this ffmpeg call, replacing "-acodec ac3 -ab 192k -ac 2" with "-acodec copy", but I don't know how to do that.

Can someone please help me?

did you change the c/d profile at all? I don't see any rule to remux mpegts in that profile. Has the stream always been mpegts?
For the audio, check you don't have selected Downmix to stereo in console.

I didn't change anything in the c/d profile.

The original stream is udp from a dvb-s application.
I re-stream it through vlc with this command line parameters: udp://@ --sout=#duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ts,dst=:2345}} --sout-all

In Serviio console I had "Enable transcoding" unchecked.
I checked it, "Keep original" was already selected in Audio channels, I clicked "Save" and restarted Serviio service but in the log file I found the same ffmpeg call.

so the original video codec is h264 (as per the ffmpeg output) or mpeg2video (as the transcoding command would suggest). It might cache some previous technical metadata, can you remove the cache folder under /library and restart Serviio?

Original video codec is h264. 1280x720p, 50fps.
I think you are right and could be some previous metadata, because I used the same http stream for both SD channels and HD channels.
SD channels usually have mpeg2 video and mpeg1 layer 2 audio.
In the profile there is:

so this type of streams should be transcoded, right?
The first channel I tried was a SD channel, so maybe its metadata are forcing the transcoding for the HD channels.

Do you suggest to use two different http stream with different port numbers, one for SD and one for HD?

I tried to stream with another port number and of course a new Online source in the library.
I found these lines in the log file:

now there is "-acodec copy" so it should be the original audio track.
I just had a few seconds to hear the sound from the rear speakers of the Home Theater connected to the TV, because now they're broadcasting in ac3 2.0, so I have to wait to test it again.
There's also the "-vbsf h264_mp4toannexb" parameter, that I think is needed to convert h264 mp4 stream/file to mpeg2ts, even if the stream should already be mpeg2ts and not mp4.

I'd prefer that the stream was sent directly in native format, without transcoding like with my Popcorn Hour A110, but I don't know if my TV can handle it.

The important is that it works
I can live with the two different streams, I placed two shortcuts on my desktop and all I have to do is to click the right one

In the log file I also noticed something about adding metadata for this new stream.
So I'm almost sure that audio downmix was caused by old metadata.
As soon as I test it again with 5.1 audio I'll let you know.
