Serviio

Hi, so this is my first request for support - well, more enlightenment really, as I think I know how I can 'fix' the 'problem'.

It concerns a particular .wma file that will not play on the LG ST600 (see my other post in the LG forum for its capabilities). I should add that I don't think it's Serviio that has the issue, as the device won't play it even if it is locally attached (by USB).

WMP reports that the file is Windows Media Audio 9.2 Lossless VBR Quality 100, 44 kHz, 2 channel 16 bit 1-pass VBR, with a bit-rate of 857 Kbps, but plays it without difficulty. Well, you'd expect that wouldn't you?!

When directly connected, the ST600 says 'Audio format not supported'. Accessing it via Serviio, Serviio displays things like the filename and duration properly, but no other metadata, and just doesn't play it. I don't have enough experience yet of Serviio to be sure, but I assume it has made a shot at transcoding it to mp3 or lpcm?

So, my question I guess is, is there a way to get a library report from Serviio that will identify any media formats it can't support (so that I can do a one-off conversion on each), or is there any way to transcode these to something more reasonable.

Sadly the LG devices are pure crap and support for DLNA on them is so limited is plain stupid, you can find out alot of information on them if you look in the LG section of these forums in the support section.

Well, to be honest, I don't think this box is as bad as all that. So far, it has actually done what it said it would pretty well, e.g. playing Humax .ts recordings right off.
It was just (bad) luck that the first .wma file I tried was lossless VBR. I simply converted it to 128Kb/s (WMA_FULL) and unsuprisingly it now plays without a problem.
The LG BD player profile doesn't do anything for audio, just for video. So I was actually thinking that the audio sections of the Sony BD player were possibly worth trying. Otherwise, having run the debug traces, it seems that the only way I'll identify a 'non-standard' .wma in my library is simply when one fails to play. But now I know what to look for, I'm happy to fix them as I stumble over them.
By the way, there are no threads on the LG subforum concerning this box, other than my own listing its DLNA protocol support.

Update the lg profile with audio transcoding, there is not many users able to update the profile so it's probably not uptodate
