Serviio 2.3 is not launching

The service is starting but the console is not opening.

When I look at the task manager then it would open for 2 seconds and then go away.

I also tried reinstalling it.

Is there a solution for this?

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

Try using a web browser to access the console. Open any browser you have on the Serviio computer and enter http://localhost:23423/console. From any other computer on the same network you can change localhost to the IP address of the Serviio computer.

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

I get the below message when I try to open the link.

Connection refused: localhost:23423

I had local hosts locked with a security program but I unlocked it for this test.

Please advise.

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

OK, it really sounds like Serviio isn't running. Open the Task Manager again and look at services, and check that it shows Serviio running. You can also look at the Serviio log (C:\Program Files\Serviio\Log\serviio.log). If Serviio starts then stops, there should be an error message in the log. If Serviio can't start at all, then the log may not even exist, and if it does will be very short. Let us know what you find.

By default, Serviio runs as a Windows system service, which has some limitations on what the program can access. Your security program might have been blocking it from running, so you might try restarting the service with the program disabled. You can restart a service in the Services applet.

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

The security I mentioned before is just a feature that locks hosts file, now it is enabled.

There are 2 serviio services running in task manager the same way it is running on another PC that is not showing any issues..

I am able to access the console from the link only if I turn WIFI off. But still does not open the console from exe file.

The Serviio log does not show errors

Please find below the event viewer report.

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

The Windows event log really doesn't tell us anything, other than the OS thinks it crashed in some way. What version of Windows are you running? There are all sorts of issues with Windows 11, and since I don't have that version available on my test platform I can't test it myself.

I see.

When do think we can have one for Windows 11?

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

In theory it should work fine on Windows 11, and for some users it does. But when it acts up, so far we haven't figured out what Microsoft is doing that is causing the problem. I don't know if it might help to enable Compatibility mode on the Serviio exe file, but I just looked at that on my laptop and Windows 10 isn't a supported level. You can set it to Windows 7 or 8, but depending on what's causing the issue compatibility mode might not be the solution. If it's something in the firewall, that wouldn't help. But the firewall wouldn't be stopping an application from running, only communicating with your network.

Could you please upload your Serviio log here so we can examine it for any clues?

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

I found the issue.

The dll file in the event viewer report is related to StarDock Windowblinds 11 which is for themes. It has option to exclude applications.

So I was able to open the console after I did that.

Re: Serviio 2.3 is not launching

Thanks!

It is working fine on Windows 10 which has WindowBlinds 10.

But WindowBlinds 10 is not compatible with Windows 11.

WindowBlinds does have 30 day trial periods.

Maybe you can test it and make Serviio more compatible with WindowBlinds 11 in the next version.
