Fetch subtitles from the web
Posted: Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:37 pmNot sure if it was suggested in the past, but now that Serviio 1.2 is out with improved support for external subtitles embedding (hardcoding), the next logical step that will be most welcome is an ability to automatically fetch matching subtitles from the web into the movie library.
When Serviio detects a new movie file, it can also trigger an attempt to download the matching subtitle (in the specified preferred language) and store it right next to the movie file.
Here are a few tools today that are doing this, can be used as a basis:
- Periscope library
- SubDownloader
- Opensource tools that use the opensubtitles API
