Serviio

Having had this work sometimes with Twonky, but never reliably, I wonder if Serviio
can do it, or better. Files recorded on my Panasonic DVD Recorder - can I copy them to or see them
on the PC running serviio ?

In the 'status' window I do not see the IP address of the recorder.

What are your renderers connected to serviio PC: TV , DVD recorder, other ?

What is the model of your Panasonic DVD recorder? Is it DLNA compliant ? Upnp compliant? (if Twonky see it, I think there were somethink doable).

If you copy recorded file to the PC running serviio, serviio can probably stream them to a DLNA device.
Could you provide some information about file format : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=file_np ?

Yes, it's a DMR-XW380. It is present in Device Spy, but following the instructions after Invoke there's no output in the (string) Sink
window, only in the (string) Source.



Initially I could copy files with and without a file size. They appeared as e.g.'AV-0-268435456-268435730-1340181812_BDY'
and I could rename them to .m2ts. The ones without a file size (showing in Twonky) would not play and girt results from mediainfo.

However Twonky would not show the files on the 380 consistently. Mostly the 380 was just not there. The last time though, I could not copy anything to the PC. Even files I'd already copied there before. 'Save Link As' instead of writing the '_BDY' file wanted to write '_BDY.htm'. This ran up in Firefox but went nowhere.

Ok, and apart for DMR-XW380, does serviio work with all others devices "renderer" (BD77/Viera/BD110/KIRK) ?
What is your default renderer or "DLNA player", viera TV ?

Could you provide MediaInfo result for the two files (with and without file size) ?
Please use MediaInfo tool result in TEXT format. http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=mediainfo

To be clear, you want to copy file to the PC with serviio, and you want to stream these recorded files to VieraTV or another device BD77/BD100.

If all devices are connected on the same network, I suggest to fix IP address for all devices, this is more stable and more easy to debug. (Can be done by the router or on each device option setting).

Yes, all devices (apart fom the 380) appear to work correctly.




For playback, either the BD77 connected to SD TV in bedroom, or the Viera TV in sitting room.

Yes, but not all of that. Once I have the files on the PC, there's no problem playing them. The difficulty is seeing the Panasonic 380
and copying files (from its hard drive) to the PC. It was possible with Twonky, but suddenly it became problematic to see the 380, and the last time I could not copy them, it seems to copy only shortcuts.
The reason for copying is to free up space but still have them to watch again later.



Understood. I have set the 380 to 10.1.1.8 and it does keep that address. This does not show in Status window in Serviio but these do

After help from another Twonky user, I have removed Twonky7 and installed Twonky6. This *IS* letting me
see the files again and copy them to the PC.

It would still be nice to do this in serviio though, if possible.



The zero file size was (when working) reported in Twonky7. Version 6 doesn't show a filesize. After
transferring to the PC they again have a file size. I'm pretty sure the 0 byte ones are DTCP-IP protected
and I need to convert the file format. (To Standard def, maybe).
