Hiding TV Shows from "Titles" folder

Hello guys,

I'm happily using Serviio since a while now; I came up with a couple of improvements I'd like too see implemented to improve my experience with it :)
(I'm going to keep these two proposal into two separate threads just to avoid confusion).

I'm wondering if it would be possible to avoid shows to appear under the "Titles" folder; while this kind of sorting is pretty useful for movies, I found it almost useless for tv shows - I never remember the title of the next episode I have to see (plus, from the Titles list, I can't see the next episode's title).
Having just 5 different seasons (from the same or different shows) into the library, means an average of 120 titles that "mess up" the titles list. It's not a big deal, obviously - if I know the title of the movie I'm going to see I can spot it in between a few episodes - but I can't see a real plus in having the shows listed there...

Does it make sense to you?

Thanks and Regards

The only problem is the MOVIES folder doesn't offer the nice # and letter links to jump directly to the content you want. On the Samsung TVs, the MOVIES jumps into the 1st movie (ordered alphabetically), and you have to scroll to the right through all the movies until you get to the one you want. So I always end up using the TITLES section to jump to a movie, but it is somewhat annoying that the show content appears there as well. It kind of ruins the experience and is confusing to some.

Thanks!

Exactly!
While the full list of movies is not a big deal from a pc client, finding the proper movie from a TV is quite annoying. The chance to jump to a specific letter is a plus for sure, even if mixed with shows episodes - but having the latter listed there is not really useful: you will never search an episode by title, just because the "Shows" folder allows you to watch them in the proper sequence and reminds the last episode watched :)

Hey sorry to reserect an old thread but after searching google looked like the closest thread match.

I have recently found the joys of using Serviio and have been running it on my PC and even more recently I have loaded the Synology package on to my new DS1812+ NAS. I have pretty much all Sumsung equipment for playing media files from DLNA (yeap see where this is going) And as such the stupid TV has a limit of 101 pages for file names. Not an issue if you have less then 1000 videos but if you have more, well it makes using the "Folders" or "Movies" option of sorting and displaying files usless unless you hate any movie that doesnt start with G or less ;-).

After a bit of forum surfing and I found the easiest solution is to use the Titles option for sorting and it worked great until I added my TV shows to Serviio, now when viewing titles it is nigh on impossible to find a movie your after. My collection has close to 3000 movies but I have close 10,000 TV show episodes so you can imagine how hard it is to find a movie when they are dispersed amongst 10,000 TV show epsiodes.

Replacing my DLNA players is not really an option at the moment all my current gear is Samsung (Plasma TV, Blu Ray, Surround sound + Intergrated Blu Ray) I just don't have the cash for that.

Serviio clearly understands the difference between a Movie and a TV show its one thing that helps set Serviio apart and above many other DLNa servers, is there a way or possibly a future upgrade that would allow an option to flag Serviio to ignore TV Shows when it comes to populating the "Titles" view if so this would totally awesome and would make my day perhaps week even month. To be honest I would love this feature even if I didn't have the Samsung limitations as I would still do all my movie searching via "Titles" as trying to scroll through so many movies would be painful at the very least.

Any way absolutley awesome program regardless dude, kudo's.

I'd love for episode titles to disappear too! They make finding movies very difficult. I never remember the title of a TV episode (too many shows; too many episodes).
