LAN/WAN switching for laptops

- A way for better switching between LAN/WAN network connection would be appreciated.

Issue detail: I prefer to "Serviio" my media via Cat 6 STP. (although wireless works quite well for lower bitrate files) However, frequently I will be operating wirelessly before deciding to watch something and upon plugging the LAN cable into my laptop, Serviio continues to hold and serve via the wireless IP addy and not update to the LAN NIC addy. (the opposite also happens if I go from wired to wireless) I just stop and start the Serviio (Windows) service and it detects its now using the other connection but automated detection of LAN/WAN switching would be a pleasant addition.

Thaks for listening,

Bren.

Re: LAN/WAN switching for laptops

set prefered/reserved IPs on your router for all your devices, then bind serviio to that IP in console.

Re: LAN/WAN switching for laptops

Thanks again Cerberus for a polite and concise response.

I prefer to remain dynamic on IP's so I'm happy continuing with a batch file to stop/start ServiioService.exe service.
If I can plug in the cable, I can click the file.

Have a good weekend
