nAudioChannels in transcoding logic

When determining my transcoding logic I would suggest that it would be nice to be able to test to see how many audio channels the source has to allow the optimum re-muxing - transcoding strategy.

For example I have a Dolby Digital amp that does not recognize AAC 5.1 but will play AAC 2.0 correctly . I would then be able to only transcode to AC3 when I have >2 channels to save CPU. This will also help with the AudioBit rate setting as i normally want 640k with 5.1 but this is crazy with 2.0 sources.

This might also be able to extend in the future to the support for DolbyHD >6 channel sources to selectively allow them to be remixed to 6 channels.

This is a really 1st class package I started with it on my PC then move it to a DS211 NAS. Thanks for all the work you have put in to this

Regards

Chris

This will also be useful for the Serviio's own MediaBrowser. You don't want to transcode all AAC to MP3 for FlowPlayer, only streams with more than 2 channels since FlowPlayer supports 2ch AAC.

Re: nAudioChannels in transcoding logic

Are there any known plans to implement this?
