Hi I have a server (power PC) running OSX 10.5.8. This version of OSX uses java 1.5 and can not be updated to a later version (only hte macs with intel chips can update java beond this). I appears that Serviio requires java 1.6+ to run. Is there a solution to this problem?

There was someone on the forum who made it work on PowerPC Mac. You definitely need Java 1.6 and you'll also have to compile ffmpeg for your CPU (sources are on the download page).
Also look here:

Hi,
Thanks for the response. The problem is that I can not install java 1.6 for this OS using the standard OSX updates. I can install 1.6 using the soylatte packages and have done this and it runs fine. However, I do not know how to tell the OS that this version is available and it does not show up in the java preferences app. Do you know if there is a way to get Serviio to use this version of java or tell the OS to use this version? Alternatively is there an older version of Serviio that uses java 1.5?
Thanks again.

I think you'll have to replace the java app stub file (as described in the linked post). It's the bit that calls Java on OSX (AFAIK).

I've yet to try it, but the following link offers a good explanation (and links to binaries) for openJDK 7 for PPC.
