hello - as a I'm new, let me please say thanks for this great piece of software.
I am not sure whether this would be the right place to mention/ask for this, but would there be any chance to write a kind of DLNA "browser" or "client" to test serviio (which works like a charm here) on the same machine/PC, without having to rely on the actual DMR (Samsung C series LED TV in my case)? this would come handy if the server machine/PC is in another room as the renderer.
I did check the forums here as well as sourceforge and Google, but no luck.
what do you guys use to test the server?
once again thanks!

thanks I did try this, well, let me call it: "bloatware", and I saw it had many features - except for an actual DLNA client, unless its hidden somewhere in its colorful yet confusing interface?

it's quite hudden... if I remeber well you have to add a UPnP source in the library. Others will probably point you to the exact location.

I have just found UPnP-Inspector which works a treat to check what serviio is offering. Its available from
http://coherence.beebits.net/wiki/UPnP-Inspector and is cross platform and free.
However - this just allows you to browse what is being served (ie see what files are available and what data is being presented with them) - if you actually want to view the media, you also need the rest of the coherence framework and gstreamer - available from
http://coherence.beebits.net/I have found it really useful though to see how my files have been indexed by serviio without having to go to my tv
