Media sorting (mediabrowser)

Hi,

First of all i'd like to mention that serviio has been a pleasure to work with so far.

One thing that i'd like to see improved on the mediabrowser is the sorting of media files, im browsing my media files by using the 'Folder' option because metadata often is being indexed wrong at my media files (different origins, converts, wiped metadata etc) so i build my own folder/file structure.

Right now i manually rename all TV-Series related files with the correct episode name and number behind that (example: Pilot 1.divx, Seeds 2.divx, Fun Town 3.divx)
the problem here is that Serviio does not sort the files based on the number at the end which indicates in what order the files should be played.

Image

it would be great if serviio could support this naming format! i actually expected it to support this already because it is common logic that up-counting numbers should be sorted as such no matter what other text is present in the title of a file.

Thank you for considering!

This would work if you put the number at the beginning. Folders content is sorted alphabetically.

Hi,

Thanks for the response! but putting the number in front didn't fix it.

yep, you'll have to prefix the first 9 with 0. 01, 02 ...... 09, 10, 11

Re: Media sorting (mediabrowser)

Hi, I've been using Pro Serviio for over a year now (possibly more?) and its been working great for our home needs, thank-you!!

One question/request I have is this:
Would it be possible to 'sort' the media files within any folder/directory by date? (instead of the default 'name' of the file). This sorting option would be great in both the MediaBrowser (web interface) as well as any DLNA apps, etc (not sure if the sorting it managed on the server or client..

I've got some media which would be ideal to be played back on a 'newest file' basis, if you know what I mean.

Thanks again for the great server, hope this is possible (that's the only request I have).

J.

Re: Media sorting (mediabrowser)

You can use the Last added category, it's sorted by date.
