.ISO -support?

Hi. Thanks for a great program.

Could you please add support for .ISO -files if it's possible to do... ?

Re: .ISO -support?

I will second that request.

Right now, ISO support is the only thing which keeps me using XBMC in addtion to Serviio-supported DLNA playback.

There is no Status or ETA on this being added to serviio, so i doubt it will be added untill atleast 0.7 but ZIP will correct me if he has plans to add this sooner or not at all

Re: .ISO -support?

I vote for adding ISO support as well. If I had that and keeping the server from hibernating the computer, I'd never look at another DLNA server. Serviio would do everything I need.

Re: .ISO -support?

features are NOT added based on votes they are based on ZIP (if he wants to add tehm he will ) so keep posting will just annoy the moderators and helpers who have to keep reading a post they have already delt with.

Re: .ISO -support?

@ZIP This should be a relatively simple process (adding ISO container support)

1) mount the selected ISO file (mount -o loop /path/to/file.iso /mnt/iso/ClientID/file.iso.tmp)
2) read the VTS directory and locate what seems to be the largest set of concurrent VOB files (likely main movie - the other option would be to actually add support to read the info files, etc. but this would be a good "first step")
3) stream the VOB(s) accordingly, using the list of VOBs found as a playlist to play one right after the other.
4) once playback ends (or is ended) dismount the ISO (and likely a maintenance script for mishaps to clean up the mounts)
5) in the interface, also look for filename.iso.jpg (or similar) for thumbnails to be displayed (just a nice feature)

Later, if/when you have the desire to do so, then get into reading the IFO files and support menus and the likes if deemed prudent.

Hope this helps with the public's requests!

Re: .ISO -support?

Well that does not make much sense.
ISO files are images of disks. There are better formats for storing movies on a harddrive.

So why choose ISO when you are not going to burn them?

In my opinion ISO files becaming more and more obsolete.

2) read the VTS directory and locate what seems to be the largest set of concurrent VOB files (likely main movie - the other option would be to actually add support to read the info files, etc. but this would be a good "first step")

Thats too complicated. What about multi angle? What about seamless branching disk? That doesnt work without progressing the whole DVD/Bluray structure

There are just streams inside a VOB file. The language info etc is stored inside the ifo.

IMO ressources shouldnt be wasted for that "feature"

I dont get it. Why using ISO files? The support is more than bad. Most players cant handle them. Go for MKV/MP4
