Support Google Cast in Serviio?

Any thought about supporting Google Cast in Serviio? I don't want to have another device dangling on my tv like chromecast when my tv already supported DLNA and I can watch everything that I attached to my Serviio. Another supported feature like google cast will be awesome. Not sure whether Google like that idea though. :-)

Thought?

If you have an Android on your network that you can just leave running, there is an app that basically makes all the UPnP/DLNA renderers on your network appear to Google as ChromeCast devices:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... cast&hl=en

The same developer has a really good Android UPnP client (BubbleUPnP), that can access your cloud based Google Music and send it to your UPnP renderer (without the aid of the above app).

And come to think of it, support for chromecast in Serviio is not really possible -- serviio is a media server, and chromecast is media renderer -- the required support would really make more sense to implement in the control point.

Yes exactly. Chromecast support goes into the controlling app.
I have added Chromecast support to BubbleUPnP and it works well with Serviio or any other media server, including transcoding if necessary (independently of Serviio transcode abilities)
Chromecast support is not available in the app yet, not until Google allows it. Let's hope it will not take forever.
