TVShows

Hi,

First post in this forum.
I've been using Serviio for a while now and I Think it's absolutely awesome. It got almost everything I need to get rid of my Plex and XBMC server except for 1 little thing which annoys me.

It would be nice if there was an option to explicity declare folders as TvShows, not video content, and that each tvshow would be declared as a "object.container.album.videoAlbum" the same way as both Plex and XBMC mediaservers work.
As it is now, TV shows are just a "object.container" which makes it hard to add metadata from places such as http://thetvdb.com/

Is there any renderer that supports the additional metadata though?

No, but in a UI perspective it adds a lot of nice possibilities. :)
I've developed an app for Win8.1 which allows for local playback as well as pushing to renderers, and with both XBMC and Plex this provides a really nice UI with metadata for the TvShow with backdrops and other nice stuff, but with Serviio i can only treat it as a Movie once I get down through show and season.
So, from a playback perspective it adds nothing, but UI wise it adds alot.

That's what I mean. I don't know any renderers that actually display the metadata. Obviously apart from apps like yours.

Even so, since Serviio already detects tvshows, would it be a bad idea to change the current construction of containers to conform more with DLNA standard to add a "object.container.album.videoAlbum" instead of a "object.container" as a Tvshow object (and keep the tvshow episode and season objects as they are)?
Even if metadata isn't used by renderers, this would make serviio even better in my point of view. :D
