FFMPEG Ubuntu

Hi Zip
As I and quite a few other people have been having issues with ffmpeg on ubuntu and linux in general, I was thinking that maybe if you could compile ffmpeg with all the required dependency's and offer it as a download from your site?
I may be wrong, but everytime after I have compiled it, I end up with 'ffmpeg' in the destination from the compiling and have to point serviio to this?

If this is the case, if you could offer a working compiled version of ffmpeg as a download I believe it would help a lot of people out.

I don't have the resources / time to do this myself. But I've setup a Launchpad project at

https://launchpad.net/~serviio-extras

No one has done anything there. It was supposed to be a place where the community manages the packages, like FFmpeg for Ubuntu. So if someone wants to take it up, let me know and I'll add you to the members list.

Some distro come with a version of ffmpeg already and you can get the plain vanilla version already. The point of compiling is that you get to add in all the libraries etc you want and its optimised for your hardware. Zip / whomever would have to supply so many versions I'd of though.

If you just want to get a vanilla version the "sudo apt-get install ffmpeg" ?

Ubuntu does not come with a ffmpeg, it is a 'pointer' to an ffmpeg branch if i remember correctly.

I'd be happy to give it a shot in my spare time zip, be something interesting to have a go at atleast and i think it could really help the many linux users out there.
