Audio stream change in a video file

I have tried to search the forum, and wiki but have not find any info on the issue,

so can you actually change the audio stream\track, if there are a few of course, while playing your MKV or other video files?

Re: Audio stream change in a video file

not yet (first audio track and first video track is used), when file is delivered in native format all tracks are delivered, this is the device renderer that select the track (if supported).

Re: Audio stream change in a video file

as illico states above this is down to the renderer and not serviio.

Re: Audio stream change in a video file

So does it depend on the renderer or on the profile config? or both?

My experience (for what that's worth  ) is that two things are necessary. The player must support the file without transcoding, and it must offer the ability to select audio tracks. If the video is transcoded, the captions and all but the primary audio track are removed. So as far as the profile goes, it needs to send a file without transcoding if the device supports it.

My Sony BD players will play most files natively, without transcoding. They also support selecting different audio and caption tracks. So, I can choose different audio the same as if I was watching the disc.

The Roku does not support audio selection, and I've never been able to select captions (although it's supposed to work, but even with that it won't choose from multiple captions).

My Panasonic TV doesn't appear to support selecting either audio or caption tracks.
