Mountain lion upgrade - computer sleeps
Hello,
First time poster. Long time user...
Apparently Apple has decided that the newest OS X 'Mountain Lion' no longer checks for disk or network activity before it puts the computer to sleep. It does this, apparently, because Apple is run by a bunch of (@%!$.... Instead, Apple recommends that applications make what Apple calls "power assertions" as a way to tell the OS when they're doing some useful work that the system should stay awake for. This policy allows the OS to put the system to sleep the moment there are no applications still holding power assertions to prevent the action. I guess it makes sense if you're the type of company that doesn't actually seem to care about it's customers.
Which brings me to you, Serviio... I LOVE you. You are the perfect streaming software and I've been very happy with your for a couple of years now. When my mac goes to sleep, your service shuts down, sometimes in the middle of streaming. It never used to be like this. Definitely a direct problem with Mountain Lion OS X.
Do you have any plans to deal with Apple's terrible decisions?
Does anyone out there have any work-arounds that DON'T involve caffeine. (That's a band-aid, not a solution...)
Thank You.
