Incorrect video names

Before I create a new Bitbucket entry I thought I'd ask here first. A search found nothing.

On rare occasions I have had a movie title that Serviio just can't figure out. The latest one is called "The D.I." , also know as The Drill Instructor. It was released in 1957. IMDB lists both names, although D.I. is the primary title. However, when I name the file "The D.I. (1957).mkv" Serviio thinks it is "12 Angry Men". Other than being the same year I can't fathom why it confuses the two. Plex did the same thing. If I rename the file "The Drill Instructor (1957).mkv" Plex gets it correct but Serviio doesn't show it all. I can add the title to a playlist, and it will show there and play, but it is just reading the raw file name and displaying it. When I open the Serviio database using SQuirreL (thanks Zip for the suggestion!) I see the file listed, but no metadata has been retrieved. The movie does not show in the normal list of movies at all, only in the custom playlist.

Plex has a function built into their web interface that allows correcting a mismatched title. I would the ability to "help" Serviio with unknown titles. I don't know if this can be done without having some sort of database viewer built into the console, or perhaps the web console that is part of the Pro version.

Re: Incorrect video names

Just had a slightly different but related issue. Just started ripping my TV Series Mission: Impossible. The problem is, there is more than one version of this series: the original from 1966 (what I am ripping) and another from 1988. Here is what the Serviio log shows:
  Code:

I tried using TheRenamer (build 7.6) and with a little difficulty Got it to look at the correct series. TheRenamer added the episode title to the name (as you can see above) and that fixed the Plex scanner. As you can see, Serviio can't figure it out no matter how I name the files. I tried naming the Folder with the year (K:\mission impossible (1966)\) but then neither Serviio or Plex could figure it out. I can't find anything in the forum or wiki that helps with this issue.

edit: One thing I see is the URL it is using to connect to thetvdb.com. It seems to be using a series ID number 116591, but for this series it should be 77231.

edit2: I dug deeper in the log and here's the very first line that relates to these files:

What's really strange is that this search had the year correct, but still couldn't seem to find the episodes. But if you go to thetvdb.com they are all there.

One last tidbit: Serviio has captured the first four episodes, but it lists them under a series called "Antarctic Mission". Never heard of it, but on thetvdb.com is does have the series ID number that is in the log above.

Anyone?

Re: Incorrect video names

Try not to use capital letters in your file names, ie not MISSION IMPOSSIBLE but Mission Impossible.

Thanks Zip. I'll keep that in mind. As I listed in a different post, I tried using TheRenamer with no success, and that changed the case if I remember correctly. I then tried FileBot to rename the files and that seemed to work. For now on I'll use filebot to name all my files, and I'll bet that resolves everything.

Re: Incorrect video names

Zip, as you know there was an issue with TMDB, but it was resolved last night. The vast majority of my videos are now being displayed, and with the correct metadata. However, I'm still encountering an occasional video that is not being accurately retrieved. I have a file named "The Wizard Of Oz (1937) .m4v". I've tried it with and without the extra space after the year, but Serviio is still not retrieving it. Is the problem because of the file extension (m4v)?

Re: Incorrect video names

Hi atc98092. Before zip comes back to you, two points - m4v files are exactly the same as mp4 files, so you can rename the suffix if you like (I don't believe the file name suffix comes into play at all for metadata collection though). I think your issue is that tmdb has the Wizard of Oz as a 1939 film, not 1937.

Thanks! I hadn't verified the year at IMDB, but I see you are correct. I just renamed the file (I had already tried changing it to .MP4) and rescanned. Poof! There it is!

I have a couple of other titles doing the same thing. I'll verify the year on those as well. Great tip!
