Xmantium wrote:Thanks Will, will fully test this tonight. I was watching the Google IO 2013 and its very cool they added so many new features for developers. The screen size view mode and translation help was very cool, hopefully this will make ServiiGo even better.

Make sure you try the new version that I uploaded just now.

They did already have mutliple screen view mode in eclipse, but it has a number of limitations, so I'll have to see how they compare, haven't managed to get the new IDE working yet though but some features look very good. The translation stuff is only for paid servicies, so I'll stick to using getLocalisation for now.

The beta/alpha testing should be a big help though, and will let me push out larger number of updates to more users as I don't get as many users teseting interim releases as I would like.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

ServiiGo + 4G = Awesomeness!!!

Just recently tested ServiiGo with BSPlayer on EE's 4G with High Quality setting and works very smooth with no lag!
I havent noticed any bugs but what happened to ServiiGo internal video player?
What does "Extra connection option" mean? should be info about it below

As BSPlayer plays just about all codecs, does any videos get transcoded by Serviio to ServiiGo on high quality?
Sony Bravia 2010 52NX803 - Sony PS3 - Xbox 360
Serviio running on QNAP NAS 639 Pro - 1.6 Intel Dual Core - 2GB RAM and QNAP NAS 121 - 2Ghz ARM Marvell - 1GB RAM
Console using ServiiDroid for Android, ServiiMetro and ServiiWP for Windows Phone and WebUI for iOS

Its something that is experimental and isn't ready yet, so its not included in this beta/release. If I can spend some time on it I'll add it back to the upcoming beta channel (but again it will be removed form the final releases until I'm happy with it).

What does "Extra connection option" mean? should be info about it below

For now it gives you an extra option to use HTTPS when connecting to the server, in the future it may give you more options, which is why I didn't both adding a summary. I'll see if I can think of short general summary that isn't just enables extra connection optinos when connecting to the server... Its in the advanced section under the assumption that very few users will use it, so I'm not to bothered.

As BSPlayer plays just about all codecs, does any videos get transcoded by Serviio to ServiiGo on high quality?

Local videos are delivered as is, some online content is transcoded, the rest is just repackaged. Ideally someone would spend some time testing online content and adjusting the profile to further reduce transcoding, especailly as if it can be delivered without transcoding it enables seeking. But I don't have the time at the moment to do that sadly.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

I've now pushed 2.3 to Google Play. This is pretty much the same as the beta, except thumbnails for online videos are not cropped in the list views. This is to support very wide thumbnails, I'll work out a better fix for the next version.

 Code:
==== 2.3 ====
*Removed support for Serviio 1.1, minimum version is now 1.2
*Added a custom expanded notifcation (JB+)
*Improved handling of server restarts by automatically starting a new session (#53)
*Switched to TMDb API v3
*Added support for SSL (Requires Apache/Stunnel etc... to proxy requests, a signed certificate, and enabling via Menu->Settings->Advanced->Extra connection options)
*Improved handling of connection problems/server errors
*Updated Drawer (slide out menu) to match new design guidelines
*Lots of other internal improvements/optimisations/fixes
*Added the clientId parameter needed to allow Serviio to re-use transcoding jobs when the device IP address changes
*Updated translations
*Updated libraries

I'll be setting up beta testing on Google Play for the next version, which will replace builds on BitBucket. I'll let you know when that is ready and how to sign up.

On the current version, which video codecs play without transcoding?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

As I said, all local content when using Original quality. You can tell because seeking only works when there is not transcoding going on.

How is plot rendered on details page?
Is that html or plain text? (I need to have some new line shown here and there but "\n" doesn't work... how about
or else?)

Thanks! :)

Can you try with \n but without the bit and the start and end. (I don't think I can test it without changing my metadata settings or setting up a test server, but \n in the text field works for me).

yes. you need to change metadata settings on your installtion or setting up a test server.
Using \n in plain text was my first try, but it was all shown on the same line... that's why I tried
Unfortunatelly I can't try it now since my pro evaluation license has expired but I'll a full pro license soon... :)

my I ask you if there's any new line show on some file details in your serviiGo/serviio installation? what does serviio api return for plot field on your installation for those files? :)

thanks.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

I've uploaded 2.3.3 to Google Play. This will hopefull be the last release before the beta versions for the next major version of ServiiGo which I'll set up in time for the first beta of Serviio 1.3.

 Code:
==== 2.3.3 ====
*Added support for rendering HTML tags in video descriptions provided by .nfo files
*Minor bug fixes
*Updated translations

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

ServiiGo 3.0 Beta 1 is now ready. This version is specfically designed to take advantage of lots of new features coming in Serviio 1.3. To get it, you need to become a memeber of the new ServiiGo beta testing program (and also need to be a Serviio beta tester)
To do so, visist https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgr ... ta-testers and then join the group. Once you have done that, visist https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.serviigo and opt in to recieving beta versions. You can then go to Google Play and check for an update (may not be ready just yet).

 Code:
==== 3.0 (Beta 1)====
*Support for seeking using a new built in video player when using the new HLS profile in Serviio 1.3 (JB+/possibly ICS+)
*Added support for Serviio 1.3
**Quickly search for media
**New HLS profile (x264) option for lower bandwidth streaming at the cost of higher server CPU usage for Medium/Low quality
**Higher resolution thumbnails
**Server provided thumbnails for album art when browsing artists/albums
**New presentation categories
**Improved loading of large folders
*Improved Music Player UI on tablets, larger artwork, slide in playlist, scalled up text and controls
*Improved quality of images loaded from cache

This version required a lot of internal changes, so there is still a lot of polish needed. I.e. the UI for searching is not finished, for example you currently have to go back to switch between audio/image/video, i'll add a spinner as in google play search. You also have to click a bit to much to get the the results for some categories. The layouts are also currently one size fits all.

The main thing that needs testing is video playback as it is very much device and content dependant. Please test out the new HLS profile in the internal player, and tell me do it work, what device and android version do you have, does seeking work, whats the quality like, whats the performance like. The HLS profile will mostly be ICS/JB only. Also test out the old mpeg2 profile in the internal player, so far only my Nexus 7 can use it, but there may be other devices out there, possibly older devices will support it.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Something went wrong with the build. Its fixed now but might take a little while before its live so it's best to wait a few hours.
The broken download is 2.0MB, the fixed one will be about 2.2MB

Edit : Fixed.

I've thought about it, but it doesn't really give much benefit, and I would have to keep the existing key version around for those who already paid for it. Why do you ask?

How is the beta going?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

Wife (complete noob!) was looking to purchase it and got confused about separate donate app. Wife suggested naming it "Unlock Key" as it unlocks all the extra goodies of ServiiGo.

Im going to do full testing tomorrow.
The CDS Search is really cool. One thing i noticed if the files are not sorted by metadata, i have to click on the video item twice to give option to play it.
Is the Online Source thumbnails now suppose to be high res?

If you go from in the app it does explain it, although I do realise its not ideal. However, I've had problems with people not realising they need Serviio Pro, or thinking the donate key does the same, and I felt it might be even worse if I call it an unlock key. I'll have another think about it.

Yeah thats this bit here
will wrote:You also have to click a bit to much to get to the results for some categories.

I get a cut down verison of the data when I search, so I then need to load the full data, then you can view it in the details view. I'll be eliminating the intermediate step in the next beta so you go straight to the details view.

Are the search results accurate for you? Are the categories helpful etc...?

Is the Online Source thumbnails now suppose to be high res?

Hmmm, I assumed there were supposed to, I just figured the existing plugins were just using low res versions to start with (e.g YouTube plugin which I looked into), but then just tried with using a live stream and a massive thumbnail, and it came out the other end at the low res size.

Great. Hopefully the UI/UX will be better in the next version.

Let me know when you have tested video playback, I want to know which devices it works on.
