DMP-BDT320 / DMP-BDT321 player Can't Play AVIs?

Hello forum,

I just bought a Panasonic DMP-BDT321 blue ray player with DLNA and have it connected with Seviio 1.0.1. Seviio recognizes the player as an "unrecognized device" and if I use the default profile, none of the AVI's will play but mpegs play fine. If I use the Panasonic Viera E/S/ST/VT profile, all of my mpegs will play perfectly but none of my AVIs will play without Seviio transcoding them as they play. I do not want the AVIs to be transcoded as they play because they are in the wrong aspect ratio, the quality suffers a little, plus I do not want my CPU to work that hard.

I find it hard to believe that this player can not play regular AVI files. Many of the movies that are downloaded from online movie sites are in standard AVI format so it must be a popular format.

The manual for this player does not say it can play AVIs but it says it can play Dvix movies (and AVI movies inside the Dvix container). Does that really mean this player can not play regular AVI's, only those in a Dvix container? The AVIs I am having problems with are not in a Divix container. Or can it indeed play regular AVIs and I am just doing something wrong?

Help will be appreciated,
Roy Smith

try this profile: Panasonic Viera G/GT/DT/UT/VT (2011/2012)

It doesn't transcode AVIs.
