Serviio - free DLNA media server for Windows, Mac and Linux

Media Streaming Server

Version 1.2 released

We are pleased to announce that version 1.2 is available for download.

This version is mostly focused on bringing full subtitles support to all the devices. It brings support for different subtitles formats as well as delivery methods (hardsubs, softsubs).

It also makes it easier to stream your content over the Internet (if you are a Pro customer) by automatically managing the incoming ports on your UPnP router.

Owners of Sony Bluray players should check the assigned profile is still correct - we have split the BDP profile into several profiles to take advantage of new features in the newer models. The 2012 model profile is now the default one.

As always, thanks go to the testers, translators and guys helping at the forum.

Serviio is the 3rd most popular media server

According to the Lifehacker poll, Serviio is the third most popular desktop media server this year.

Thanks to all who voted :-)

Version 1.0 Released

It's been a long wait, but 1.0 has finally landed. This major release brings a split of Serviio into two editions, Free and Pro. Download the Pro edition, evaluate for 15 days and if you like the added features, buy it. If you do not feel like going Pro, Serviio will revert to the Free edition - but do not worry, it still includes all the features previously released and more.

The Pro edition has some nice features, like web based MediaBrowser, that will enable you to browse and watch your content from wherever you are. The piece of software that enables this (API) is available to developers and there are already some apps that take advantage of it.

Another useful feature in Pro edition is Access Groups. This will enable you to restrict access to some of your content for certain devices and can therefore be useful in families, etc.

There is also a much sought after support for (local) playlists, proper aspect ratio handling and much more.

As always, thanks go to the testers, translators and guys helping at the forum.

Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did making it.
